The series follows a woman living in the 19th century, in Birmingham, driven by a desire for gender equality and social justice.
She is involved in a gang that engages in weapons theft, alcohol and tobacco smuggling, and the protection of the oppressed.
Despite coming from a working-class background and being a woman, she struggles to make her way in an unequal society.
The series explores themes of violence, injustice, and the determination to defend the rights of the most vulnerable in a time when women were often considered second-class citizens.
